2013-04-14 [Kbird]: I actully have a bit more research to do for Mind trick
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: Research on what?
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: Fay and other magical creatures...
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: O.O Why didn't you ask me?! D: What do you need to know?
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: Hehe well I was wandering if you wanted to be my co-owner sence you know so much...I'm trying to have alittle of every Irish mythical creature...lik
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: *dramatic gasp* I LOVE BANSHEES!!!! <3<3<3<3
The pooka is similar to the kelpie in that it is a fae with mystical shape-shifting abilities. Much like the kelpie, it has a preference for the form of a horse or pony that appears to weary travellers. The differences between pookas and kelpies are the countries they originate from and the degree of their malicious intent. While one would drown and devour innocents that climbed upon their backs, the other will usually just take people on a wild ride and freak them out a little. XP The man-eating one has a very sticky skin, and there is actually a folk tale about a boy who came across one, pet it, and had to cut off his hand to escape.
Banshees are female entities related to will-o-wisps and the Washer in the Ford. They typically are bound to one family and cry out whenever a family member dies. They are known to have pale silver/blond hair and grey/green robes/dresses. They will scream even if the family member who died is on another /continent/, but the shriek will only be heard throughout the traditional family home. The Washer in the Ford is suggested in some legends to be the same entity as the banshee, but she only appears to soldiers, washing bloodied linens in a river before a battle. If she's washing /your clothes/, YOU ARE GOING TO DIE IN BATTLE. Will-o-wisps mostly show up as lights. They are also called ghost-lights or jack-o-lantern
Anything else?
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: aren't Will-o-wisps supposted to be the spirit of dead children that appear as lights?
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: That's one common legend. Another that's popular in England is Black Bart. He's basically the soul of a horrible man who was cursed to wander the earth in the cold and dark for eternity. The devil took pity on him (because, yes, he was /just that evil/ that the /freakin' devil/ decided that they were of the same kind) and gave him a lit coal to carry with him for the purposes of warmth and light.
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: cool...Oh what do you know about the fogman?
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: ...I think that's a musician. :/ Anything else?
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: lol from what I've came acrossed his like the boogy man..in landon it was beleived that if you where a bad child or broke a promised the fogman would steal you away...so alot of children where scared of fog.:/
Oh! and I also want to know more about Dullahans.
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: Ah~ The headless horseman~ Originally, he didn't ride one horse. He was a coachman with a team of horses. He carries a whip made of a human spine, throws blood in your eyes to blind you and may or may not carry his head with him. He only appears at night, that "covered bridge" thing is bull. The only thing that can distract him from his hunt is a gold coin.
I actually looked some of this stuff up for a comic I was going to make (but is now in my scrap pile) in which the Banshee rules the Dreamscape, the Washerwoman is her sister, the Will-o-wisps are her servants, and the Dullahan is her coachman. :P My main premise was that the Banshee had a granddaughter who was 3/4s human because--and I quote--"Old Lady Banshee had a nasty habit of playing with her food~". The half-breed mother is dead and the human father lives in the human world and him and the Banshee agreed that the granddaughter would spend her first 15 years in the Dreamscape learning to control her powers before continuing her education in the human world, then choosing where she wished to stay.
The Dullahan was loyal to Banshee, but other than that, he was kind of a jerk. :/
A hot jerk.
A hot jerk with a removable head. XD
2013-04-14 [Kbird]: LOL SOUNDS COOL!
2013-04-14 [ancienteye]: Yeah, but like I said, it's in the scrap pile for now...
Anyways, anything else you want to know?
